Summary: I picked the Canon Powershot S100 for less than $50 on the used market and was surprised at how fun it is to use. Sharp, shoots RAW, very useful zoom range. Downsides: image quality starts falling apart past ISO 800-1600.
Overall: a great camera for beginners and at today's prices, a great "beater" camera to take on a trip or hike. In my opinion, this is the cheapest point and shoot digital compact camera that's still worth buying today.
