Myanmar’s anti-junta unity government 'people's defence force' to protect civilians from military violence

Myanmar's shadow government set up by ousted lawmakers has formed a "people's defence force" to protect civilians as the military continues its crackdown on anti-coup protesters.
The National Unity Government explained Wednesday that this is intended as a precursor to a Federal Union Army.
The group added its duty is to enforce effective security reforms to end 70 years of civil war.
