China is taking further steps to tighten oversight of data with the country's first Data Security Law taking effect on September 1. The legislation, together with the 2017 Cybersecurity Law and the Personal Information Protection Law which will take effect on November 1, form the basis of a comprehensive framework for online data security and privacy protection.
