So they butchered all the characters just to make Aegon a Shakespearean hero... Thanks?
I really didn't like this season, but the Aegon storyline was the most interesting. We already knew that Aegon was a victim of his grandfather and mother's political ambitions, and now we are finally convinced that he is in fact a deeply tragic character (even if they didn't try to make him so). A lost and unloved child, betrayed by his own family. They wanted to make a king out of him, but they didn't teach him to be a king. All his childhood he grew up as some kind of wild plant, on his own, acquiring addictions and not understanding where good is and where evil is. Indifference, contempt from his own mother breaks my heart. And Tom Glynn-Carney's acting was simply brilliant. He made even viewers from the opposite side fall in love with his character.
P.S. Forgive me, Rhaenyra fans, but I lowkey giggled when Aegon called himself her nickname, The Realm's Delight. I think it's more ironic than The Magnanimous.
