We are lovers of Georgian cuisine and have eaten it various times around Eastern Europe before however now we are finally in Georgia its time to eat the real deal 🇬🇪

We headed out into Telavi to find a local restaurant but we first came across a tiny local bakery making shoti puri, a super traditional Georgian bread made in a boat shape, we took a look inside the bakery and bought one to snack on, it was actually really good and we pretty much buy it everyday now.

We then found 'meidani' a little underground spot that seemed to be frequented by locals and had pretty good prices!

For food we obviously ordered bloody loads of Khinkali in 3 different types (meat, meat and herbs, cheese) these were fantastic but they are deceiving and so filling.

We also ordered Shkmeruli which is another traditional Georgian dish and essentially chicken cooked in a garlic sauce with a few chilli flakes on top, this was really tasty but super rich and heavy!

I can't forget the tarragon lemonade which is an absolute classic and looks like fairy liquid in a glass.

Overall the food was really good some of the best Khinkali I've ever had anyway, and it was super affordable with friendly service what more can you ask for.

We also went for a little wander in town and a look at the viewpoint over the mountains to end the day.
