I actually made a video already talking about the banner and pity in system, however that video was 40 minutes long. I decided to make it a video on it's own and it still ended up being 25 minutes.

The Banner and Pity system in Genshin is not complicated, but there is quite a bit to learn abou it.

I also thought all the common terms you hear can be confusing for new players so I decided to make this video.

Not exactly happy with it, feel like I could've done better, but I hope it is helpful to those that see it.

Standard Banners are easy to explain, they have their own currency that only works on pulling for the standard banner. Once your pity reaches 90 (hard cap) you are guaranteed either a 5 star character or weapon.

Pity works in Genshin Impact similarly to other gacha games. Every time you do a pull and do NOT get a 5 star character or weapon, you accumulate one 1 pity. When you reach around 70ish pulls you enter what is called soft pity.

Where you have an increased chance of pulling a 5-star. If you are still unlucky, the pity has a hard cap of 90 where it is a 100% chance.

Limited character banners have a bit more to them in that, once you first reach the hard cap, you get what is called a 50/50. This means that you can either get the limited character on the banner OR a random 5 star standard character. You cannot pull 5 star weapons on limited character banners.

If you lose the 50/50, as in getting a standard character and not the limited one, you get what is called a guarantee the next time you reach hard pity cap. Meaning that you have a 100% chance to get the character on the limited banner.

Pity carries over from limited character banners. But you cannot carry pity from the standard banner over to a limited banner or vice versa.

Weapon banners are a bit unique because of the epitomized path mechanic that is has. I try to explain it in the video and hopefully most folks understand it but just in chase. It works like this:

1. You pick a weapon that you want and chart the course.

2. As you pull on the weapon banner, every 5 star that IS NOT the one you charted course for that you obtain grants one fate point.

3. Once you obtained the required amount of fate points (2), the NEXT 5 star weapon you pull will 100% be the one you charted a course for.

There are probably other things I forgot to mention, feel free to ask any questions in the comments below.
