This video introduces the notion of "Division of Responsibilities in Feeding" developed by child development researcher, Ellyn Satter.
In the rest of the Montessori Method, parents are responsible for creating the "prepared environment" and providing acceptable choices for children.
Apply this practice to mealtime by providing a variety of healthy foods for your child, and defining the times and places to eat them. Invite your children to choose what to eat, and how much.
PARENT'S RESPONSIBILITY:
WHAT foods to offer.
WHEN to eat.
WHERE to eat.
Child's responsibility:
WHAT to eat.
HOW MUCH to eat.
