In this visit I join the Tikuna tribe of the Amazonas to venture deep into the rainforest. The Tikuna are a large community living in this region where three countries meet. I meet Ciro in a fishing village with a population of about 50. Ciro knows the area very well. We agree to hunt together in the areas where the jungle meets the Amazon River in order to find dinner. It is getting dark. We return to the village with only a handful of small fish, not enough to feed the entire family. We share the pasta and fruit I brought with me. In the evening, we try our luck once more and set off deep into the river to hunt crocodiles, which they love so much. The Amazon reveals all its wildness when darkness falls. We walk amidst a constant fear of "What if we get lost?" and the endless buzzing of mosquitoes. It is one of the scariest and most interesting days of my life. Enjoy!
