A businessman is spending millions of his own money on the primary election campaign for Maryland's opening U.S. Senate seat. Three-term U.S. Rep. David Trone, D-District 6, is campaigning for a promotion to the U.S. Senate. He's one of the top-polling Democrats in the race to succeed U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin, who announced in May he's not running for reelection to a fourth term. Trone, 68, is proud of his accomplishments on core issues in the House and said he can do even more in the Senate.
