China reports rising number of human bird flu infections

The number of cases of human bird flu infection is rising rapidly in China.
Citing data from the Chinese health commission, Chinese news portal Zhongguo Xinwen reported on Friday...
there were 69 new cases of human infection of the H7N9 strain of avian influenza just last week... and 8 people have died.
In January, 79 people in China died of the bird flu strain... out of almost 200 new cases of infection.
Most of the cases have been found around the country's eastern Yangtze River Delta... and southern Guangdong Province... and local experts say they expect the number of human infections to rise in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the authorities are closing poultry markets in Guangdong to prevent further human infections.
