This popular and critically acclaimed track from the Eric Clapton band’s late-1970 LP “Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs” was initially issued on 45 single in 1971 as a 2:43 edit (#51 Billboard peak) and then in 1972 as this full-length version. Clapton’s more laid-back 1992 live ‘unplugged’ recording of “Layla” would peak at #12 on The Hot 100.
