Theory of Black (Dark) Colors Vs White (Lighter) Colors.
Black color: It is excellent at absorbing radiation from the sun, but if there is no radiation, it is also great at emitting heat. So If your hood is closed and inside the pipe is hotter then the atmosphere temperature, then it would extract the heat inside and emit it into the atmosphere. Black can absorb light & radiation, or it can emit heat when no light and radiation is present.
White color: It is excellent at reflecting radiation and light. But under the hood this is useless. Now if there was no hood then that would be a different story.
Black water and black coffee cool down faster then coffee with milk, or water with no dark coloring.
Things that absorb better are also are the best emitters. Black objects heat up faster than shiny ones, but they cool down a lot faster to.
Highly polished teapots will keep hot longer as their surfaces do not give out heat so welt.
A highly polished stainless steel teapot will take longer to cool down than one of the same size with a rough dark surface.
