In physics, sound is a vibration that propagates as an acoustic wave, through a transmission medium such as a gas, liquid or solid. We can only hear the sound, we can't see it! What if we try to see the sound using some set up !?
A common setup for a sound visualization device is, stretching balloon over a cylinder and sticking a mirror on the middle of the stretched balloon. And keeping a speaker inside the cyclinder on which the balloon is stretched. When you play a music in the speaker, you cause air molecules to vibrate. These vibrating molecules strike one another and hit the rubber membrane. Pressure changes due to sound would then cause the stretched balloon to vibrate which causes the mirror to wiggle. The laser light bounces off this wiggling mirror, tracing out various shapes and patterns that you can see...Sound Visualizer!
Different amplitudes and frequency of sound emanating from the speaker in turn causes different shapes and patterns.
