Normally, the way people insert an image in a cell in Google Sheets is by going to Insert and using the Image option.

The issue with this method is that it treats the image as an object and hence it doesn’t move or size with the cells. If you delete the cell which has the image, the image won't get deleted. Similarly, if you resize the cells, the image wouldn’t resize.

You can use the IMAGE function in Google Sheets to insert an image using the URL.

This function would fetch the image from the web (using the URL) and place it in the cell where the IMAGE function is used.

Now, when you resize the cell, or hide it, or delete it, the image would also do the same.

IMAGE function takes four arguments:

=IMAGE(url, [mode], [height], [width])

-- url – this is the URL of the image that you want to enter in the cell
-- [mode] – this is an optional argument and determines how the image gets fit in the cell. There are four numbers that you can use here
---- 1 resizes the image to fit inside the cell, maintaining aspect ratio. If you leave the mode argument empty, it takes 1 as default.
----- 2 stretches or compresses the image to fit inside the cell, ignoring aspect ratio.
----- 3 leaves the image at the original size, which may cause cropping.
---- 4 allows the specification of a custom size.
-- [height] – if you select 4 as the mode argument, then you can use this argument to specify the height of the image in pixels.
-- [width] – if you select 4 as the mode argument, then you can use this argument to specify the width of the image in pixels.
