PERCUTANEOUS ABLATION OF THYROID NODULES: WHICH ABLATION WHEN?
For benign thyroid nodules, we do laser, RF, microwave ablations (thermal ablations) as well as alcohol ablation in our center. We prefer thermal ablations for solid nodules and alcohol (ethanol) for cystic ones. The shrinkage rates after laser, RF and microwave are similar in solid nodules. The experience of the physician is more important than the type of ablation to achieve a good result.
