Whether you are using booster pack, jump cables or jump starter process will be the same. Connect red cable to the positive battery terminal and black cable to negative battery terminal. Most of the batteries will be marked with + or -. If using jumper cables you will connect other side of the cables to the other vehicle (red to positive terminal and black to negative terminal).
