Let's talk about hard rock and metal guitar tone for a second (in the context of mixing of course).
I'm hearing more and more super muddy sounding guitar tones and I think it's because home studio musicians are trying to make the guitars do too much in a mix.
Guitars by themselves don't have much power in a mix - the POWER comes more from the BASS guitar.
In this video, show some strategies for how to get your guitars to better fit into your mix without sounding muddy, and why it's so important to spend just as much time getting a solid bass guitar tone as your guitar tone.
Because if you don't, your guitars will NOT have any power to them. PERIOD.
