As the polio campaign enters its second phase, moving to southern Gaza, UN’s Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, visited a clinic in Gaza Strip affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Led by various UN organizations, the polio vaccination campaign began earlier this week. 640,000 children under the age of 10 during each round are expected to be vaccinated in the Strip, incluing about 340 000 in its southern area.

UN’s Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, visited Thursday (5 Sep) the Japanese clinic in Gaza Strip affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Kaag was briefed on the polio vaccination campaign led by various UN organizations, which began earlier this week.

She also took part in administering vaccines to several children as a symbolic gesture to highlight the importance this vaccination campaign against polio in Gaza.
