The recent partnership between Zenless Zone Zero and McDonald's has triggered negative feedback from some players. Although this collaboration is limited to China, numerous players worldwide have voiced their criticisms, akin to the backlash faced by Genshin Impact in the past. The objections mainly stem from the boycott of McDonald's following their provision of free meals to Israeli forces, which has led to controversy over their alleged support for military actions resulting in significant civilian casualties in Gaza.
Nevertheless, it’s crucial to highlight that Hoyo's collaboration with McDonald's is not directly related to these matters. Players can choose to boycott the restaurant, but this decision shouldn’t impact their gaming experience. Hoyo is entitled to partner with various brands without being swayed by political issues. We should be able to enjoy the game without the weight of broader social issues. Additionally, from my observations, players in China have shown little negative reaction to this collaboration, and many appear to be quite pleased with it.
