Now while there are TONS of videos on YouTube discussing this, 99% leave out key details that you need to know. Like how most of your videos will not make you the same amount of money per 1,000 views. In fact, most videos on my channel have completely different earnings in ad revenue per 1,000 views.
The two most important factors that determine how much you make on YouTube from ads shown in your videos are your CPM and RPM. CPM is basically what advertisers are willing to pay per 1,000 views on your channel.
RPM or revenue per thousand views is what you actually get paid every 1,000 views on your channel. And it's a way better metric for YouTubers because unlike CPM, it also includes channel memberships, YouTube premium revenue, and super chat as well.
The RPM that you can expect to receive on YouTube is dependent on various factors. For example, I have some videos where my RPM is $5, other videos where it's $10, and some videos it's even over $30.
There are a lot of factors that determine your RPM and CPM on a video, with the biggest ones being your video topic, the location of your viewers, and their age as well. I've found that viewers who are older typically pay better, simply because they are more likely to click on ads and buy things.
Although my ad revenue doubled this year, Affiliate Marketing was actually my largest source of income. I love affiliate programs because they are really a win-win scenario. I get to recommend products and services that I personally use and enjoy, the viewer usually gets free money or a discount, and I also earn a commission on any sales.
The real power comes from having multiple affiliate programs that you earn money from every single day. All of them combined really adds up over time.
