📃 Description: 📃
Hurricane Patricia, the most intense hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere, was a relatively small system despite its ferocity, with hurricane-force winds extending only about 35 miles from its center. In contrast, Hurricane John, the longest-lasting tropical cyclone on record, had a much larger structure, with tropical-storm-force winds stretching hundreds of miles outward. Hurricane Sandy, often called "Superstorm Sandy," was a colossal system, with tropical-storm-force winds reaching an astounding 1,000 miles across, impacting much of the eastern United States. Typhoon Tip, the largest tropical cyclone ever recorded, dwarfed all other storms, spanning a staggering 1,380 miles in diameter, larger than some small countries.

When comparing these storms to extraterrestrial phenomena, their scale becomes even more striking. Saturn's Great White Spot, a massive storm that appears periodically, can be over 10,000 miles wide, enveloping much of the planet's surface. Neptune's Great Dark Spot, a storm system comparable in size to Earth, showcases the power of atmospheric phenomena on other planets. Finally, Jupiter's Great Red Spot, the most iconic planetary storm, is a gargantuan vortex over 16,000 miles wide, large enough to fit multiple Earths within its bounds. This scale comparison reveals the vast range of storm sizes in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial contexts, illustrating the awe-inspiring forces of nature.
