Armenia: A Fruitful Partnership
United Nations - When Meghri Cannery in Southern Armenia almost closed its doors five years ago due to aging equipment and its remote location, Director, Grigoryan Grisha struggled to find capital to save the business. He discovered FREDA, an investment company, whose goal is to alleviate poverty by investing in remote regions of the country. Using funds from the Armenian Government and the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD, FREDA offers technical assistance, financial management, and international food safety certification to local businesses.
