This is the second challenge of the channel, the first one we tried to conquer the whole galaxy before the year 100, if you want to check it out it was a lot of fun trying:    • Conquest 400 Star Galaxy - 4th Playthrough  


Origin:
Shattered Ring - It's the best origin since it gives us the best system in the long run. We can right away colonize two more ring sections (although also shattered and with tons of blockers) to start increasing our output. Since we are basically going for a trade build, the reduction in habitability does not affect our trade output directly. Later on, when we research the mega-engineering technology, we'll be able to repair all segments, including the broken and destroyed one to a regular ring segment, one of the most powerful planets you can have in the game.

Government:
Megacorp - It's also the best authority for a single system since you can stablish branch offices across the whole galaxy without ever leaving the system. This enables us to have more diverse buildings and compensate for some lack of resources on our home system (such as low naval cap possibilities due to having no anchorages). It also helps us with the energy outcome from trade and some other good civics we can have.

Ethics:
Xenophile - Increases our trade value and also improves relations with all empires, making it easier to form the commercial pacts required to stablish our branch offices
Militarist - It's required to have the corporate protectorate civic that reduces our empire size from pops by 50% (basically the best civic for tall empires). It also gives a nice bonus to ship fire rate.
Spiritualist - Extra monthly unity to help us ascend faster and later on makes it possible for us to grab the Ascensionists civic, improving our planetary ascension even further. Since we'll only have 4 planets, it's gonna be relatively cheap to get all of them to max tier planetary ascension.

Civics:
Corporate Protectorate - By far the best civic for tall empires, reduces our empire size from pops and districts, but increases from planets and systems (since we'll only have 4 planets and 1 system, it's fine). It also gives some good defensive bonuses if we were to be attacked.
Brand Loyalty - Increases our monthly unity, something we definitely want to virtual ascend even quicker.

Traits:
Machine - We need to be machines to virtual ascend
Adaptive Frames - The auto-pick, best trait for machines (and possibly bio if you could pick something like that right at the start of the game)
Mass produced - We still want the pop growth before virtual ascending. Later on we can retrofit our pops and remove it for something more useful
Engineering Core - It's gonna help us accelerate the best machine tech tree in the game, and also helps us to reach mega-engineering faster.
Conversational AI - Reduces pop upkeep by -2%, it's a free pick and perhaps one of the best IMO, since a reduction in upkeep stacked enough times together can yield massive results.
Luxurious - Basically 2 free points since we won't be suffering from alloys that early into the game (no need for alloys to crate/upgrade more starbases, only for our first colony ships and later on to build a better military power).
High Bandwidth - Also 2 free points since empire size from pops will be minimal due to virtual + planet ascensions + corporate protectorate + other empire size from pops reduction modifiers.


Ruler:
Official - Trait Principled - It increases our stability a little and the official class increases our trade value by +5% at level 4 and later on can grab the veteran trait to increase it even further, at max +30% trade value. However, since we are a Megacorp, every election the CEO will need to be replaced with someone else, so our ruler will only be staying with us for a short amount of time.
