Kosuke Mikado is a shy and somewhat timid bookstore employee who has had the secret ability to see ghosts since childhood- he is discovered by Rihito Hiyakawa, an exorcist who has the power to dispel ghosts. Even though his supernatural abilities are strong, Hiyakawa sees ghosts only vaguely and is unable to read their thoughts. The two form an unlikely alliance- reluctant, overly sensitive, kind hearted Mikado and the aloof and talented Hiyakawa who buries his compassion and emotions under a cool facade brought on by childhood trauma.
