In the Central African Republic, years of armed conflict have severely weakened an already fragile nation. Despite its abundant natural resources, the population sees little benefit, facing daily hardships and limited access to basic services. Remote areas like Ngoto remain nearly cut off due to impassable roads, forcing motorbikes to serve as makeshift ambulances for medical emergencies — a perilous journey for patients. The conflict also devastated the country’s vehicle fleet, with many taxis and buses destroyed or stolen. To cope with the shortage, some travelers are forced to use livestock trucks for transport. Despite these harsh conditions, people remain resilient, holding on to hope even when they have to spend nights under the open sky.
