It is important that your moderators have the ability to manage messages and mute members. The manage messages permission will allow users with the moderator role to delete messages sent by members. This will help keep the server clear of unwanted spam, profanity or NSFW content.
When you set up a moderator role on Discord you will want to make sure that the administrator permission is disabled. The administrator permission gives complete control over the sever, and isn't needed by moderators.
