Jason, a hero of Greek mythology, was born in Iolcus, and was the son of Aeson, the legitimate king. His uncle Pelias usurped the throne and sent Jason to be assassinated. However, he survived, raised by centaurs. As an adult, Jason returned to Iolcus to claim his throne, beginning his famous quest for the Golden Fleece.
