A quick MrAlexTech beginner guide to Davinci Resolve Expressions. Use these to create counters, timers or progress within your projects quickly and easily plus they can be saved into Power Bins for later use. Really useful.
Cheat codes!
" " = Wrap text in quotation marks
.. = And or Ampersand to link numbers and text
time = current frame
comp.RenderEnd = Number of frames within current composition
time\comp.RenderEnd = 0 - 1 progression through composition
ceil() = Round up
floor() = Round down
Copy the below into the Expressions box to create relevant counter.
Replace 'ceil' with 'floor' to round down rather than up.
Change 24 to the Frame Rate of your current project.
Simple count up in seconds = ceil(time/24)
Simple count up in seconds = ceil((comp.RenderEnd-time)/24)
Percentage up = ceil(time/comp.RenderEnd*100) .. "%"
Percentage down = ceil((1-time/comp.RenderEnd)*100) .. "%"
Progress Percentage Up = "Progress: " .. ceil(time/comp.RenderEnd*100) .. "%"
Progress Percentage Down = "Progress: " .. ceil((1-time/comp.RenderEnd)*100) .. "%"
Loading = "Loading " .. ceil(time/24) .. "/" .. ceil(comp.RenderEnd/24)
