The original concept had chunky tyres or off-roading, however the final car which is coming to the UK has been toned down slightly.

New Citroen My Ami Buggy design

The Citroen Ami is already a pretty whacky-looking thing, and the My Ami Buggy will draw even more attention. This isn’t a car for those who want to go unnoticed.

It comes in this unique khaki green colour with fluorescent accents, and the front and rear bumpers have been bulked-up as well.

The main difference though is the lack of doors. You have some bars to keep you from falling out, and there are some transparent zip-on covers to keep the rain out, but with those removed you’re open to the elements.

The gold steel wheels are also unique to the buggy, and they’re wrapped in normal road tyres unlike the original concept which had knobbly rubber for off-road driving.

The Citroen My Ami Buggy uses the same 8hp motor as the standard Ami, so don’t expect to be winning any drag races. The top speed will remain at around 30mph.

You’d better be quick if you want a new Citroen My Ami Buggy. There will only be 1,000 available worldwide, with just 40 of those available to UK buyers when sales start on the 20th June.

The price for this exclusivity is £10,495. That’s around £2,800 more than the standard Citroen Ami.

The Ami isn’t classed as a car in this country - legally, it’s a quadricycle, which means even a 16-year-old is allowed to drive it on public roads as long as they have a full AM moped licence. And, when Citroen released an ultra-limited series of the Buggy last year, all 50 units sold out in France in less than 18 minutes, while this year’s follow-up run of 40 EVs allocated for the UK went the same way.

Cool hey
