Mold and mildew buildup is an unfortunate occurrence, but can be avoided and fixed !!
1.Keep your locs from sitting for long periods of time wet.
2. Avoid sleeping in wet hair with a cap or covering.
3. Wet styling for setting locs should be dried 80% under a hooded drier before covering.
