Many people don't realize that one of their most vulnerable online security spots is their home wifi network. It's unbelievably easy for a hacker to sit outside your house without your knowledge and gain access to your entire network - including all the connected devices.

Obviously your first line of defense is an excellent wifi password, but most people don't realize that there's a 5-minute solution to making it 10x's harder to hack a home wifi network.

The solution is a hidden wifi network. This tutorial is going to walk you through how to hide your wifi network on most traditional wireless routers, including the Apple Airport and most of the popular routers on the market today (Netgear, Linksys, etc.).

The key to greater network security for your home is to make sure that when people want to access your network, they have to know BOTH your network ID (known as your SSID) as well as your password.

The Apple Airport gives you an option to "create a hidden network" while many of the other routers ask if you want to "broadcast your SSID". In both cases, you have the option to make your network name available for everybody...or only those who know the name.
