Samsung Electronics used it expansive exhibit space at Ceasar's Palace to showcase its 8K TV range. New this year is a dedicated app to stream 8K YouTube content as well as new 8K sourced video from Savage Stock. Savage Stock and several other providers will also supply 8K still images that can be used in the ambient mode of the TV so there can always be native 8K content visible on the 8K TV.
In the booth, they showed The Rings of Power trailer in 8K along with the othewr 8K streaming options. They likewise highlighted 8K native gaming applications on an 8K TV. A new partnership with Neowiz should yield a new 8K authored game called "Lies of P" coming this summer.
In terms of picture quality enhancements, Samsung's Real Depth Enhancewr Pro uses AI to identify the object of interest in a scene. It isolates this object, such as a face, and enhances the contrast and colors a bit while also slightly blurring the background. This increases our focus on the foreground and adds a sense of depth as well.
They have also expanded their AI neural network from a 16-node version to a 64-node version and are now using this to do SDR-to-HDR conversion in addition to resolution upscaling. They call this Auto HDR Remastering.
In terms of screen sizes, Samsung will continue to offer 55, 65, 75 and 85-inch screen sizes, but at CERS 2023 they introduced a new 98" 8K screen option. Samsung plans to continue to sell 8K TVs in the EU market after the new regulations take effect mainly using a new eco-mode.
