Recently, I composed a fun product shot for my Instagram, and to stave off boredom since we are isolating and not doing any client photography for events and portraits. I noticed that at 10,000 ISO (Yes! 10,000 ISO), the EOS R had a fair amount of grain when zoomed in. I decided to compare the low light performance of the Canon 5D Mark IV and the Canon EOS R in terms of low light, so I recreated the shoot, and put the cameras up against each other. Each camera captured an image at the same settings: 1/250, F16, and ISO 4000. I made some adjustments in Lightroom and compared the results in terms of which image had more grain. Both images were acceptable, well, amazing, really. But which camera had less grain and noise at ISO 4000? Watch and see!
