Manu Delago - Mesmer Mesmerising feat. Isa Kurz (Official Video)
Filmed in one take, the “Mesmer Mesmerising feat. Isa Kurz” video brings a playful angle to the fascinating stories that surround Franz Anton Mesmer, the controversial 18th Century hypnotist and physician who inspired this unusual and captivating song. Delago explains: “Mesmer used various techniques to heal and hypnotise people in the 18th century, including an instrument called a glass harmonica which constantly spins while being played. So the idea of the instrument and also hypnosis led us to a spinning camera for this video”.
The choreography and idea were conjured up while Delago and his band were on the Australian leg of the ‘Metromonk’ album tour. Keeping to the theme of nature which runs through the previous videos from the ‘Metromonk’ project (an animated story for “A Step feat. Pete Josef” and a one-take live performance on a mountaintop for “Freeze”), this time he picked an amazing deserted beach in the South East of Australia as the location.
