Gautam Adani's business empire defied naysayers by becoming the largest conglomerate in modern India within a short period of time. Spanning from coal-power to renewable energy, infrastructure to transmission, there is hardly anything left untouched by the Adani Group of industries. But the empire's growth story suffered its biggest blow yet with the publishing of the Hindenburg report, that alleged that Adani had pulled off the biggest con in corporate history. It raised serious allegations about financial fraud and stock manipulation, resulting in the single-biggest erosion in Adani stocks. But Adani claims the report is a result of a malicious attempt to defame not only the company, but India. Whatever the truth, Adani's investors are already sitting on the precipice of disaster.
