Part 3 of 7, of a playthrough of "Socrates Jones: Pro Philosopher". Socrates Jones speaks with Protagoras, an ancient Greek philosopher who claims that morality comes from humans. If a human believes something is good, then it is good for them. This belief is commonly known as moral relativism.

Protagoras backs up his claim that morality depends on the individual, by saying everyone values something different. There is nothing that everyone agrees is good. Therefore, you cannot say someone else's morality is wrong. Socrates objects to this argument. He uses the example of free speech, as something that everyone can agree upon.

Protagoras responds by pointing out that there are limits to free speech, therefore, it is not a universal good. Socrates points out that if something is good in some situations, but bad in other situations, morality must sometimes depend on the situation. This argument contradicts Protagoras' earlier claim that morality is dependent upon the individual.
