As we all saw, UP mafia don turned politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were gunned down on live television. The news immediately prompted severe, polarizing reactions, not only from India but everywhere else too. While many celebrated the death of a dreaded criminal who had been responsible for a reign of terror in Uttar Pradesh for four decades, others saw the killing as a complete breakdown of law and order. When I conducted a poll on my YouTube community page, the responses were equally divisive. So, I began to wonder why some people celebrated, while others thought Ahmed's killing set a dangerous precedent for our democracy. My friend ButWhy and I got together, and we tried to analyze the arguments both for and against the killing and reach our own conclusion.
