However, it quickly became apparent that this impeccable police officer, well rated by his superiors, had information compromising the highest interests of the State. Lardin was in fact in possession of letters with problematic content. Le Floch wishes he could find these documents but he understands that the matter is beyond him. Very quickly, the police found the lifeless remains of a close relative of Lardin. This too is an assassination. Le Floch comes to suspect a vast conspiracy...
