These are the Smallest RNA viruses belonging to the family of virus picornaviridae. It has four genera that are:
🟡 Enterovirus
🟡 Rhinovirus
🟡 Aphthovirus
🟡 Cardiovirus
Enterovirus and Rhinovirus are pathogenic to man, so the focus of this video is these two genera.
▬ 📌 Enterovirus
Enterovirus is a genus consisting of unenveloped, icosahedral, positive-sense RNA viruses.
Enterovirus is associated with several human diseases that mainly infect the intestine. Hence named Entero-virus where Entero means related to the intestine.
Enteroviruses have 3 stereotypic groups:
🟠 Poliovirus
🟠 Coxsackievirus
🟠 Enteric cytopathic human orphan virus (ECHO)

They usually do not cause intestinal infections but are responsible for causing infections in the upper respiratory tract.
