easy way to clone your hard drive to another computer over the network.
Here’s my old HP workstation, which I’m controlling remotely using a piKVM device. I’ve inserted a USB stick with Ventoy and selected to boot from the Clonezilla ISO file.
Once Clonezilla boots up, we’ll press Enter a few times until we reach the screen where we select “remote-source.”
Next, we press Enter a few more times until we see the message: “Waiting for the target machine to connect…”
Now, I’ll start my Virtual Machine and boot from the Clonezilla ISO file, which I pre-uploaded to the hypervisor datastore. I’ve configured the virtual hardware to match the HP workstation as closely as possible.
We’ll go through the Clonezilla wizard again, but this time we’ll select “remote-dest” and proceed. After answering a few more prompts, we’ll arrive at a screen where we need to enter the source IP address.
I’ll check my HP workstation to find the correct IP. Got it!
Now, let’s enter the IP and see what happens. A few more questions will pop up, and the default settings have worked fine for me so far.
Clonezilla will now ask for confirmation to wipe the destination drive. You’ll need to press Yes twice to confirm.
Success! The data transfer is in progress!
