Common Knowledge Build School
A bit of a departure from what I usually do but I have a grand dream of one day building my own home. So last summer, I took a week off to attend the incredible Common Knowledge Build School. https://www.ourcommonknowledge.org/ @commonknowledge2458
Over the week we learned about everything from percolation to foundations to plumbing and roofing. For me, the best part was getting to use all of the tools and gaining confidence that I was doing things correctly.
I chose to stay in a tent which was a terrible idea as my tent was old and couldn't withstand the rain so I had to create a moat around myself and sleep in a waterproof bag. There is gorgeous accommodation on site but I'd still stay in a tent the next time - just a newer one!
Honestly, I have never tasted nicer food. The chefs use produce that they grow on site and every meal was a culinary experience.
The instructors are so knowledgeable, patient and fun too. And the others taking the course become friends in no time. We'd go for spins in the evening and get food or jump in the water and reminded me of being back in Irish college.
Overall I couldn't recommend the Common Knowledge Build School and think everyone would benefit from it.
