One of the projects had some strange sizing issues, so I will also talk a bit about sizing and sizing standards.

Practical Knitting Illustrated by Margaret Murray and Jane Koster, published in 1940 by Odham's in the UK. There were 8 books in this series, published between 1940 and 1949.
