A variety of routine tests are carried out for the diagnosis of Lymphoedema. These tests include full Blood count, liver and thyroid function tests, c-reactive Proteins, Chest Radiography and ultrasound, and several others discussed in this medical video lecture.
Another diagnostic technique is lymphangiography. The information about the spread of lymph vessels and lymph nodes in the body is detected precisely through this technique. However, an expert radiologist is required to perform this method.
A normal lymphangiogram is presented first. Then, the explanation is given on the lymphangiogram of congenital hyperplasia, distal obliteration, proximal obliteration with distal hyperplasia, and proximal obliteration with distal obliteration. Following this, isotope lymphoscintigraphy is discussed which is used to identify the severity of lymphoedema before and after the treatment. Imaging through lympho-fluoroscopies is also helpful in the study of the Lymphatic System.

When done with diagnosis, the next step is the treatment or management of Lymphoedema which includes the pain relief drug, manual lymphatic drainage, multilayer lymphoedema bandaging and compression garments. Besides this, some surgical approaches such as liposuction are also considered.
Then, information is also provided on Limbs reduction procedures which include the Sistrunk, Homas, Thompson, and Charles procedure. All these procedures are made easy to understand for medical students in the General Surgery lecture video as well as in general surgery lecture notes.
