Film Score Exercise #7 - The Longest Night of the Year
Happy Solstice! This one came along by accident. I was filming random city shots with the DJI Mini 3 Pro today, and i got a notification that the Solstice had arrived (4:48PM in my location). Thanks to the time-stamping feature in the footage, i was able to locate the exact section where Solstice occurred, so i decided to have some fun and do a little countdown, then follow it with some footage i shot earlier, coincidentally at 4:18PM, the moment of sunset on the longest night of the year. The soundtrack is an older song of mine called Preliminary Data, from i think 2011?
This time of year is always hard for me, as i know it is for many of you. But here we are at the far end of the year, and day by day we will be heading back towards the light and the warmth. Hang in there pals, and a very Happy Holidays to you all.
I'm working on a series of these, just as practice exercises. I try to shoot some footage, then bring it home, edit it and compose and record a score to go with it, as quickly as possible. Hopefully with practice, these will get better!
